Overview

This combined Uganda- Rwanda safari involves visiting the very best destinations in these two countries. The safari starts from Uganda and ends in Kigali Rwanda. You get a chance to have a mixture of amazing game drives and boat rides in uganda’s savannah parks and view chimpanzees and gorillas will then cross to Rwanda’s Volcanoes national park for a second gorilla trekking experience, golden monkey tracking, cultural visits and a city tour.

Tour Plan

Day 1 | Entebbe

Arrival at Entebbe International Airport meet your guide from Nsavi Safaris who will then transfer you to your hotel for an overnight.  Meals included: Breakfast

Day 2 | Murchison Falls National Park

Today you will be picked up and proceed to the next highlight of your memorable tour in Uganda, going on to the beautiful north-western Uganda to Murchison Falls National Park.  Murchison Falls National Park is one of Ugandas largest conservation areas and boast of 76 mammal species and 451 bird species that thrive in the open savannah and tropical forests. Enroute visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, home to 22 southern white rhinos. Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a project under Rhino Fund Uganda and Uganda Wildlife Authority to re-introduce Rhinos back to the wild following their extinction in 1980’s due to uncontrolled poaching. After lunch continue to Murchison Falls and proceed to your Lodge. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3 | Game drive, boat ride to the falls.

After an early breakfast, proceed to have a game drive. This is a beautiful drive across savannah, Borassus Palm Forest and grassland down to Lake Albert where the Albert Nile heads north.  Drive in the open African savanna in search for Lions, Leopard, Hyena, Buffalo, Elephant, Jackson Hartebeest. Oribi, Waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, and enjoy spotting various Bird species. In the afternoon, go for a boat ride up the Nile to Murchison falls. Enjoy these spectacular falls where the Nile squeezes through a 7 meter gap.

Day 4 | Kibale Forest National Park

Drive to the top of the falls and then continue to drive to Kibale National Park along the way you will pass by tea plantations. Kibale Forest is a diverse forest that boasts of 13 species of primates such as the Red colobus, grey checked  mangabey and Red tailed monkeys, Rare L’Hoest monkey as well as over 335 bird species with some rare and endemic to the Albertine region and varying tracts of tropical forest in the whole of Uganda. In the afternoon you will arrive at your accommodation. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 5 | Chimp trekking and Bigodi swamp

You will go for Chimpanzee tracking and enjoy a wonderful forest experience with these habituated chimpanzees. These engaging apes are closest to human beings and are great to watch being playful both on ground and in the trees. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, go for a walk in the Bigodi wetland where you will have a chance to see different primates and bird species especially the Great Blue turaco popular in this area while getting to know the communities nearby and their projects.

Day 6 | Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, along the way drive by the kasenda crater lakes, proceed to the park is one of Uganda's most popular and most scenic game drives with a wide variety of wild game and over 600 bird species incorporating a wide variety of habitats that range from savanna to wetlands and lowland forest. In the afternoon, you shall have a boat ride on Kazinga Channel. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 7 | Game drive to Ishasha sector

Have an Early Morning Game drive. Thereafter, you will drive to the southern part of Queen Elizabeth -Ishasha. This sector is notably known for its resident tree climbing Lions that are an exceptional attraction in the park. You will have a game drive in search of tree climbing Lions.  Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 8 | Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The park is a UNESCO Natural world Heritage site that is home to the endangered mountain gorillas. This fascinating mountain forest hosts of animals and spectacular birds including 23 of the 24 Albertine Rift endemic bird species including Blue-throated Broadbill, bar-tailed Trogon and other beautiful forest species.  You shall go to bed earlier this evening so that you are well rested for thrilling experience of gorilla tracking the next day.

Day 9 | Gorilla trekking

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters where you will have an orientation and meet your guides for the day. Trekking the Mountain Gorilla is one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The trek will take between 2 and 7 hours, but is well worth the effort. You will be led by an experienced ranger who will tell you interesting facts about flora and fauna and the lifestyle of the Gorillas. The trekking can entail climbing, hiking but once you reach a gorilla family, you will have a chance to observe the family at close proximity for an hour. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 10 | Volcanoes National Park

Cross the border from Uganda into Rwanda and proceed to Volcanoes National Park. The journey goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that show much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. In the afternoon you may walk to the Ruhengeri town and Market. Meals included Lunch and Dinner

Day 11 | Gorilla trekking

Today you will get up early and drive to Volcanoes National Park in Ruhengeri, you will go to ORTPN offices for briefing after that set off in the forest for Gorilla trekking. A thrilling trek through the refined foothills of the Virungas led by an experienced ranger Guide provides inspiring views in all directions. Gorilla trekking is quite strenuous but a worthwhile on encounter of these gentle giants. Depending on the location of the gorillas on any given day the walk can take anything from 1 to 7 hours. Once the family of gorillas have been located, settle in to the environment and enjoy the hour you have to quietly observe these fascinating primates whose habits and mannerisms remind us so much of our own. Meals included; Breakfast, packed Lunch and Dinner.

Day 12 | Departure in Kigali

Today, you will drive back to Kigali. Enjoy a city tour including a visit to the Genocide Museum in the suburb Gisozi. In the evening depart for the Airport and take your flight back home. Meals Included; Breakfast.
