Queen Elizabeth

This park is one of the most visited in Uganda the park is 1,978 km sq and has  diverse ecosystems which include; sprawling savanna, shady, humid forests, sparkling lakes and fertile wetlands, make it the ideal habitat to 95 mammal species such as such as the Buffalo, Uganda Kob, hippos, giant forest hog, wart hog, elephants, leopards, lions among others. In the southern part – ishasha is famous for its tree-climbing lions big game, ten recorded primate species including chimpanzees and over 600 bird species.

Set against the backdrop of the jagged Rwenzori Mountains, the park’s magnificent vistas include dozens of enormous craters carved dramatically into rolling green hills, panoramic views of the Kazinga Channel connecting the two lakes.(Lake Edward and Lake George). Along its banks you find a varied range of animals such as; hippos, Nile crocodiles, buffalo and elephants among others and and birds like African skimmer, White-winged tern, Grey-winged robin-chat, African finfoot, Shoebill, Black-rumped buttonquail, Collared pratincole, Crab-plover, Pel’s fishing-owl, Palm-nut vulture .

The park also has a wide variety of crater lakes and you can have a chance to visit the Katwe Crater Lake among others where salt is mined, here you get a chance to interact with the locals.

Activities that you can do in the park; Game drives, Nature walks maramagambo forest , Chimp trekking in Kyambura Gorge, crater lakes visit, experiential lion tracking, bird watching and community visits.
