Gahinga (3,474m), and Mt. Muhavura at 4,127m can all be summited and it takes been 6-8 hours. It is naturally gifted with four montane vegetation zones, endemic bird species, stunning crater lakes, and two critically endangered primates, golden monkeys, and mountain gorillas. The park is has one habituated trans-boundary mountain gorilla group called Nyakagezi that moves between Congo and Rwanda. It is also a habitat for the endangered Golden monkey and also has a huge cultural significance, in particular for the indigenous Batwa pygmies. This tribe of hunter-gatherers was the forest’s “first people”, and their ancient knowledge of its secrets remains unrivaled.

Activities that you can do in the park; Gorilla trekking, golden monkey tracking, bird watching, mountaineering to Mt. Sabinyo, Mt. Gahinga, and Mt. Muhavura, Batwa trail experience.
