12 Days Uganda Walking Safari

This incredible safari give you a combination of experiences such as having amazing walking tours between places, a night on the Rwenzori mountains to game drives, boat rides to tracking chimpanzees and gorillas.
Arrival at Entebbe International Airport meet your guide from Nsavi Safaris who will then transfer you to your hotel for an overnight.
Drive to Mabamba swamp where you will take a canoe boat ride in search of the elusive shoebill stork in the papyrus. Later, drive to Kibale National Park by passing tea plantations along the way. This diverse forest boasts of 13 species of primates such as the Red colobus, grey checked mangabey and Red tailed monkeys, Rare L’Hoest monkey as well as over 335 bird species with some rare and endemic to the Albertine region and varying tracts of tropical forest in the whole of Uganda. In the afternoon you will arrive at your accommodation.
After breakfast you will go for Chimpanzee tracking and enjoy a wonderful forest experience with these habituated chimpanzees. These engaging apes are closest to human beings and are great to watch being playful both on ground and in the trees. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, go for a walk in the Bigodi wetland where you will have a chance to see different primates and bird species especially the Great Blue turaco popular in this area while getting to know the communities nearby and their projects.
Today you proceed to Kasese en-route you will hike to the kasenda crater lakes. The hike takes about 3 hours. Return and drive to your lodge for an overnight.
The central circuit starts at the Rwenzori Mountaineering Services offices at Nyakalengija (1615m). You will arrive in the morning to allow ample time to rent equipment and meet your guides and porters. The trail begins by passing through farmland to the park boundary beyond which it follows the Mubuku River, crossing its Mahoma tributary before starting a long, steep climb up onto a massive ridge to reach Nyabitaba hut. The hike takes around 6 -7 hours. During this part of the trip you may hear chimpanzee and see black and white colobus, blue monkey and the brilliantly coloured Rwenzori turaco.
Descend the mountain and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park is one of Uganda's most popular with scenic game drives with a wide variety of wild animals and over 600 bird species incorporating a wide variety of habitats that range from savanna to wetlands and lowland forest. Have an evening game drive in the park.
Have an Early Morning Game drive. There are over 100 mammal species that include Lions, Hippos, Buffaloes, Leopard, Spotted Hyena, Elephants and the elusive Giant Forest Hog in this park. Return to the Lodge. In the afternoon, you shall have a boat ride on Kazinga Channel where you will have a chance to see different animals coming to take water and a variety of bird species.
Drive to the southern part of Queen Elizabeth -Ishasha. This sector is notably known for its resident tree climbing Lions that are an exceptional attraction in the park. You will have a game drive in search of tree climbing Lions. Proceed to your accommodation.
You will have another game drive in Ishasha and thereafter proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The park is home to the endangered mountain gorillas and hosts a variety of spectacular birds including 23 of the 24 Albertine Rift endemic bird species including Blue-throated Broadbill, bar-tailed Trogon and other beautiful forest species. You take the buhoma – Nkuringo walk and will choose which trail to use. The Ivy river trail (4hours) is an important footpath used by the locals especially on market days between the south and northern sectors or the Kashasha river trail (6-7hours)  which offers a challenging but  upclose experience of natural wonders in the forest like birds, butterflies, bush pigs, duikers can be sighted. Upon arrival in Nkuringo, meet guide who will drive you to the lodge.
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters where you will have an orientation and meet your guides for the day. Trekking the Mountain Gorilla is one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The trek will take between 2 and 6 hours, but is well worth the effort. You will be led by an experienced ranger who will tell you interesting facts about flora and fauna and the lifestyle of the Gorillas. The trekking can entail climbing, hiking but once you reach a gorilla family, you will have a chance to observe the family at close proximity for an hour. In the afternoon have a boat ride on Lake Mutanda.
Drive to Lake Mburo National Park. The Park forms a mosaic-like habitat with rocks, dry slopes, open and wooded savannas, forests, and swamps increases. This diversity of habitats has the diversity of bird life with 313 bird species recorded in the park, including flame head Barbet, Long-tailed Zitting Cisticola (Tabora), African Bins Rail, Collared Barbet, binding Bush singer among others. You will have a game drive as you enter the park such as Topis, impalas, giraffes, elands, waterbucks, buffalos and zebras.
You will get up early morning for a guided nature walk and game drive return to the hotel for a hearty breakfast. Drive back to Kampala crossing the equator and later drive to Entebbe International Airport connect with your onward flight back home.
